The Entrance Hall gives the sense of entering a gentleman’s club. There is a huge oak settle and an original, encaustic- tiled floor. Into the Main Hall and there are steamer trunks on the floor, photographs from the Raj on the wall and coronation engravings of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. Yet the atmosphere is not heavy. The woodwork is white, the floor is of pale, sanded pine and the subtle, honey-coloured Chobi rugs lend warmth to the spacious main hall.
