The Dining Room

The Dining Room at Glenholme is a large and elegant room looking out over the lawn and the orchard. There is a large Chinese cabinet at one end and an 19th century buffet at the other, but the room is dominated by four specially-commissioned paintings by the English landscape artist Alan Rankle based on local scenery. Like the whole house, Rankle’s paintings have a basis in tradition – in his case traditional 18th century landscape painting – but they are also modern, full of light and a sense of movement. The room is calm and tranquil for breakfast in the morning and warm and friendly, with candles and a log fire, for dinner in the evening.
